Automatic vs Semi-Automatic vs Manual – RACING
© Best Motoring International, Japan, 2003. NOTE: Please mind this is a referential video only. It does not intend to reflect the current state of development of the most recent transmission technologies, nor their efficiency. Please note the video was filmed in 2003 when semi-automated systems had not experienced the considerable improvement they later did in the late 2000's. Crucially, none of the cars with automated transmissions on this video feature Double-Clutch Transmission (DCT) technologies, which have in recent years considerably improved aspects such as manual activation, gearshift order delays and inter-gear time-lapses. Tested vehicles: o Mitsubishi Evo VII GSR YELLOW ( MANUAL) o Mitsubishi Evo VII GT-A (*) CHAMPAGNE (AUTOMATIC) o BMW M3 [E46] SILVER ( MANUAL) o BMW M3 [E46] SMG II MUSTARD (SEMI-AUTOMATIC) o Ferrari 360 Modena RED ( MANUAL) o Ferrari 360 Modena F1 WHITE (SEMI-AUTOMATIC) (*) Please note the Mitsubishi Evo VII GT-A automatic has a -8 HP disadvantage over the equivalent GSR, Manual model. © Video Copyrights: Best Motoring International, Japan, 2003. gan san is a kamikaze!! lol
I bet most car accidents involve automatic transmission built vehicles.
Most stressed out drivers tend to sleep with these cars on long straights, and probably wake up on the hospital bed..
experience true spirit of driving with manual transmission…
automatics are boring…
Automatics are for old people and girls. Learn to drive.
Manual trannies are more reliable and wont shift on you
mid corner. Autos have there place but not on a road coarse.
Tsukuba circut is the shit
@quatroportte
I have a suggestion:
Why don’t we organise a track day (in whatever country we see fit), not now some day months ahead, and check this out. As far as possible we rent could cars with both manuals and automatics and see. I think none of us is a professional (we can even cross-check)…
WHY DO YOU GUYS THINK???
KEEP IN MIND PEOPLE.
these are profesionals.
You will never be able to shift as acurately/fast’/precisely as them
If you do a test on a track with a auto and manual,AUTO WILL WIN
cause we are normal people, not racers.
End of story
smg m3′s driver sucked, shouldnt be a 30 second lap difference between the two m3′s
interesting… btw. WTF at that ferrari
